Jose Mourinho says Zinedine Zidane returning to Real Madrid is "perfect", insisting he is not disappointed about being overlooked. Mourinho looked set for his own Real reunion, with fans calling for him to take over after the side's elimination from the Champions League. Real, however, opted for Zidane, who won three Champions League trophies and a Liga title in his two-and-a-half-year spell at the Bernabeu. 0:28 Zidane: I'm back home Zinedine Zidane says he wants to get Real Madrid to 'where it should be', after returning to the club for a second spell in charge. Raging Buffon's crazy UCL farewell

Gianluigi Buffon raged late into the night after a wild match in Madrid as the Juventus legend was sent off in what was probably the final Champions League match of an extraordinary career. The veteran goalkeeper's frustration spilt over at the Santiago Bernabeu after Juventus beat Real Madrid 3-1 on the night, but were eliminated 4-3 on aggregate in the quarterfinal after English referee Michael Oliver awarded the Spaniards a hotly contested 97th-minute penalty. "In place of a heart he has a rubbish bin," raged 40-year-old Buffon after Oliver pointed to the spot after Mehdi Benatia's challenge on Lucas Vazquez in the dying minutes. Buffon was given his first ever red card in 117 Champions League games and after Wojciech Szczesny had taken his place in the Juventus goal, Cristiano Ronaldo coolly slotted home the spot kick to put defending champions Real Madrid through to the semifinals. "You have to be a murderer to make the last two decisions the refe

Real Madrid star Gareth Bale not returning to Premier League, says his agent

Gareth Bale’s  agent insists the forward is not going to return to the Premier League this summer despite seemingly having fallen out of favour at  Real Madrid . The Welsh forward has been missing for many of Madrid’s most crucial games in what has been another season disrupted by injury and started the Champions League knockout games against Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus on the bench. Indeed in the quarter-final first leg he did not even make it onto the pitch and in total Bale has made just 21 starts for Madrid and 10 further appearances off the bench, though in those games he has scored 14 goals and provided eight assists. The former Tottenham forward was criticised by Jorge Valdano despite laying on Cristiano Ronaldo’s goal in a 1-1 draw with Atletico Madrid on Saturday, with the ex-Madrid player and director saying “nothing that Bale does is worth €100 million, and that is the figure he wears on his jersey.” READ MORE Zidane defends decision to sub Ronaldo ear

'CR7 a symbol of Real like Di Stefano'

Zinedine Zidane believes Cristiano Ronaldo will be remembered at Real Madrid in the same glowing terms as Alfredo Di Stefano.  Di Stefano was the face of Real´s domination during the 1950s and 1960s, when they won five European Cups and he scored more than 300 goals.  Ronaldo is now trying to lead another prolonged period of European success, with Real gunning for their third consecutive Champions League triumph, and fourth in five years.  They take a 3-0 lead into Wednesday´s quarterfinal second leg at home to Juventus after the Portuguese scored twice last week in Turin, a double that included a sensational bicycle kick.  Ronaldo already has 14 goals in this year´s tournament, three short of his best ever 17, which he posted when Real were crowned champions in 2014.  "I do not think of playing without Cristian, we have him and we are happy," Zidane said on Tuesday.  "There are many people who remember Di Stefano, it is normal - many people, and I am one
